Detective, Metro-Dade Organized Crime Bureau-Vice Division

Zito (played by Justin Theroux) is a Detective of the Miami-Dade Police Department and an undercover detective in the Organized Crime Bureau - Vice Division in the film adaptation of the Miami Vice television series. Zito is an electronics expert who specialises in setting up surveillance for the Vice team, and is also qualified to fly light aircraft and helicopters.

Career In Vice[]

Zito was in charge of electronic surveillance during the operation to bust Neptune at The Mansion, tapping into the club's security cameras so that the Vice squad could record footage of Neptune's prostitutes 'working'. When the investigation was hastily cancelled in favour of pursuing a case against José Yero, Zito travelled to Haiti with Crockett and Tubbs to act as additional security. He later flew the registered light aircraft that Tubbs used as cover from radar to transport the first of Yero's shipments back to the United States, and was also involved in delaying a later shipment with Switek in an attempt to buy the rest of the team enough time to locate and rescue Trudy. He accompanied the Vice squad to their final confrontation with Yero and his Aryan Brotherhood supporters, and although he survived the incident he was shot in the leg during the shootout.

Weapons[]

Zito uses an Olympic Arms OA-93 fitted with a telescoping stock as his primary weapon, most notably during the gunfight with Yero and his men.
