"When the Rain Comes Down" is a song by Andy Taylor, recorded exclusively for Miami Vice in 1986. It was later released on the album Miami Vice II in 1986, and as a single that year. It appeared in the episode "Stone's War".
Notes[]
- The song has only ever been released on Miami Vice soundtrack albums, starting with Miami Vice II, although it was also issued as a single in 1986.
- "When the Rain Comes Down" was one of four singles released from the album Miami Vice II -- the others being "The Last Unbroken Heart" by Patti LaBelle & Bill Champlin, "Crockett's Theme" by Jan Hammer, and "Send It to Me" by Gladys Knight & The Pips (the latter of which did not actually appear in the TV series). All four songs were written specifically for the series (or, in the case of "Send It to Me", the soundtrack album).
- As well as Miami Vice II, the track has also been included on the European edition of the soundtrack album The Best of Miami Vice in 2006.
- "When the Rain Comes Down" was co-written by Steve Jones, whose song "Mercy" also appeared in "Stone's War".
- Andy Taylor performed with The Power Station, as well as with Duran Duran, then released his first solo album, Thunder, in 1987.
