Veronica Cartwright (born April 20, 1949, Bristol, England) is an English actress who appeared as a society dame that hosted a party attended by Christine Von Marburg, and a friend of financier Charles Symington in the episode "By Hooker by Crook" of the series Miami Vice.
Career[]
Cartwright was born in England, but her acting career began in America, starting in the 1958 movie In Love and War, some of her other movie credits include The Children's Hour, The Birds, Spencer's Mountain, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Alien (she was originally slated for the role of Ripley but was switched with Sigourney Weaver at the last minute), The Right Stuff, The Witches of Eastwick (with Richard Jenkins, she was also in the 2009 TV series Eastwick based on the movie), Scary Movie 2, Call of the Wild, The Town That Dreaded Sundown (with Gary Cole and Ed Lauter), The Dark Below, The Field (with Mark Metcalf), Limbo, and her most recent movie appearance, in 2022's The Phantoms.
Her TV career began in the 1958 series Zane Grey Theater, followed by roles in The Twilight Zone, Route 66, Leave It To Beaver (and the 1985 remake The New Leave It To Beaver), Daniel Boone (as Daniel's daughter Jemima), Dragnet: 1970, The Mod Squad (with Clarence Williams III), Tanner '88, L.A. Law, The X-Files, Will & Grace, The Closer (with Kyra Sedgwick, episode with Jo Anderson), Law and Order: SVU (with Richard Belzer), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (with Paul Guilfoyle), Memphis Beat, Revenge, Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, and her most recent TV appearance, 2023's Gotham Knights.

Cartwright is the older sister of actress Angela Cartwright (born 1952), who appeared in the TV shows Make Room For Daddy and Lost In Space and the Oscar-winning movie The Sound of Music. She has been married three times, first to Richard Gates from 1968 until their 1972 divorce, Stanley Goldstein in 1976 until their divorce, and director/actor Richard Compton in 1982 until his death in 2007, they have one son, Dakota.
