"Today's a Beginning" is a song by Brian Ray, recorded exclusively for Miami Vice in 1984. It appeared in the episode "Give a Little, Take a Little". An instrumental version of the song also appeared in the episode.
Notes[]
- Other than its use in the show, the song has not appeared on any album or as a single, making it one of the few Miami Vice songs never to see a release in any form outside of the episode in which it was used.
- The use of two different versions of the song in the show is one of only two times this occurred in Vice. The other instance is the track "Smuggler's Blues" in the episode of the same name -- both the regular album version of the song and an otherwise unreleased acoustic version are used.
- Vocals on the non-instrumental version were provided by Jill Colucci (as confirmed by Brian Ray himself). Colucci also sang the opening theme to America's Funniest Home Videos during the Bob Saget era.
- Brian Ray played guitar for hits by Paul McCartney, Etta James and Santana.
