"The Last Unbroken Heart" is a song by Patti LaBelle and Bill Champlin, recorded exclusively for Miami Vice in 1986. It was later released on the album Miami Vice II in 1986, and as a single that year. It appeared in the episode "When Irish Eyes Are Crying".

  • The song has only ever been released on the soundtrack album Miami Vice II.
  • "The Last Unbroken Heart" was one of four singles released from the album Miami Vice II -- the others being "Crockett's Theme" by Jan Hammer, "When the Rain Comes Down" by Andy Taylor, and "Send It to Me" by Gladys Knight & The Pips (the latter of which did not actually appear in the TV series). All four songs were written specifically for the series (or, in the case of "Send It to Me", the soundtrack album).
  • The B-side on the single release was the Jan Hammer track "New York Theme", first used in the episode "The Prodigal Son".
  • Patti LaBelle has reached the Billboard Hot 100 in five decades (the 1960s through the 2000s).
  • The Miami Vice II soundtrack did not come close to the success of the first album, only reaching #82 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. The final soundtrack, Miami Vice III, was released in 1988 and did not chart.
  • There was a Chinese song adaption sung by Danny Chan in the 90's called 半分缘.
