Tackhead was an American "industrial hip-hop" group whose song "Hard Left" (with Gary Clail) appeared in the episode "Miami Squeeze" of the series Miami Vice.

Career

Tackhead was formed by three members of the Sugarhill Records house band; Doug Wimbish, Keith LeBlanc, and Skip McDonald, along with producer/"mixologist" Adrian Sherwood. Their style of music was called "industrial hip-hop", defined as the point where funk, electronica, dub, and industrial music meet. The band proper only released two albums, 1987's Tackhead Tape Time (featuring "Hard Left") and Friendly as a Hand Grenade in 1989, as the band drifted off into other hip-hop groups that were forming in the 1990s, but did reunite for a tour in 2004 before breaking up again.
