Ruben Blades Bellido de Luna (born July 16, 1948, Panama City, Panama) is a Panamanian musician and actor whose song "Tierra Dura" appeared in the episode "Shadow in the Dark" of the series Miami Vice.

Career[]

Blades has released around 50 studio, live, and compilation albums in his career, while none of them ever charted in America, they were very successful with Latin audiences. His songs have been included in such movies as Beat Street, Oliver and Company, Chances Are, and Dance With Me. He is also a prolific actor, debuting in the 1983 movie The Last Fight (with Tony Sirico and Don King), followed by Crossover Dreams (with Shawn Elliott and Tom Signorelli, also recorded soundtrack album), Critical Condition (with Sylvia Miles, Joe Dallesandro, Randall "Tex" Cobb, and Jon Polito), Homeboy (with Debra Feuer, Kevin Conway, and Polito), Mo' Better Blues (with John Turturro, Wesley Snipes, and Giancarlo Esposito), The Josephine Baker Story (with Lynn Whitfield), and Once Upon A Time In Mexico (with Julio Oscar Mechoso), and the TV series Fear the Walking Dead. Blades was nominated for two Emmys for his roles in the TV movies The Josephine Baker Story and Crazy From The Heart, and won two Grammys.
