Propaganda is a German New Wave/Dance band whose songs "p:Machinery" (in "The Fix") and "Jewel" (in "Theresa") appeared in the show Miami Vice.

Career

The band was formed in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1982, the original three members were Ralf Dorper, Andreas Thein (1954-2013, cancer) and Susanne Freytag, later adding Michael Mertens and Claudia Brücken. The quintet released their first single, "Dr. Mabuse", and it charted well in the UK and Germany, but their record label delayed releasing their debut album because of the success of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, during the delay Thein left the group, and their album, A Secret Wish (featuring "p:Machinery") did not come out until July 1985, more than a year after "Dr. Mabuse" was released, but its' success was limited in the UK, while it did well in Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Brücken left the group in 1987 for a solo career, the group's second and final album, 1234, was released in 1990, and the band broke up, briefly reunited in 1998, then broke up again until another reunion in 2005, but with only Freytag and Mertens, but a paper included with the 25th anniversary re-release of A Secret Wish in July 2010 indicated Dorper and Brücken are on working terms and would consider reuniting in the future. However, in an interview in 2011, Brücken indicated her and Dorper could no longer work together. In 2012 the band re-released Wishful Thinking as a deluxe edition, however the death of Thein from cancer in 2013, along with the situation between Brücken and Dorper, prevents a reunion of the classic band lineup.
