Octavio Arroyo is a former Bolivian General who was deposed in a coup, but fled to America with a large haul from the Bolivian treasury, then used that money to buy several banks in Miami and a large estate in Key Biscayne. He also has a son, Nico Arroyo, who is a playboy and his actions (including raping Odette Ribaud, a former maid in his father's home) threatened to embarrass the senior Arroyo, so to protect his image and reputation he took $10,000 and paid off Odette's mother so that Odette would drop the rape charges. His son was later killed by Gina. No tears were shed for his loss.
