Nicholas was a wealthy informant who worked for Crockett and Tubbs, often serving as a middleman and setting them up with suspects they were investigating in the illegal drugs trade. He served in that capacity when the Vice team began investigating the Aryan Brotherhood members responsible for the deaths of several undercover FBI agents, arranging a meeting for Crockett and Tubbs with José Yero despite warning them that the group were a significant risk to their lives.
Director's Cut[]
A small scene with Nicholas is added in Michael Mann's Director's Cut of the movie. It occurs immediately after the Vice team meets with him at his home, and shows him phoning Yero and vouching for Crockett and Tubbs, thereby setting up their employment.
