Moultrie Patten (June 10, 1919 - March 18, 2009) was an American actor who appeared as Grover Watkins, Tom Pierce's former employer and political mentor in the episode "Vote of Confidence" of the series Miami Vice.

Career[]

Patten served in World War II, winning a Silver Star for his heroism in the Battle of Monte Cassino in 1944. After the war, he got into acting, mainly on stage but made limited film appearances. His best known role was as Walt Kupfer in the TV series Northern Exposure from 1993 until the series' end in 1995. His final TV appearance was in the 1999 TV movie Love is Strange and his final movie appearance was in the 2000 film Blast.

Death[]

Patten relocated to Beaverton, Oregon in 1990, and there he passed away from pneumonia on March 18, 2009, at the age of 89. He is survived by his two children, Moultrie Jr. and Sarah.
