Mogwai is a Scottish rock band whose songs "We're No Here" and "Auto Rock" were featured in the Miami Vice film, the latter of which is the final song used in the Director's Cut of the movie.

Stuart Braithwaite and Dominic Aitchison met in 1991, and four years later teamed up with Martin Bulloch to form Mogwai. The band took its name from the small furry creatures featured in the Gremlins series of films (although Braithwaite maintains the name was never supposed to be permanent, they merely "never got round to (changing) it"). The group's early singles were relatively successful in their native UK, and their first album Mogwai Young Team reached number 75 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was later partially remixed, along with other songs by the band, by various artists and released under the title Kicking A Dead Pig. Barry Burns joined the group prior to the recording of their second album, Come On Die Young, which was moderately successful in the UK and reached number 27 on the UK Album Chart, a level they have only ever surpassed with their follow-up album Rock Action (which climbed two places higher). Later albums included Mr. Beast (featuring "Auto Rock" and "We're No Here"), The Hawk Is Howling and Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will.
