Miguel José Ferrer (February 7, 1955 - January 19, 2017) was an American actor who appeared as an unnamed District Attorney brought into the Milton Glantz case in the episode "Death and the Lady", and Ramon Pendroza, son of patriarch Louis Pendroza in the episode "To Have and to Hold" of the series Miami Vice.
Career[]
Ferrer is the son of actor José Ferrer (first Hispanic Academy Award Best Actor winner) and singer/actress Rosemary Clooney. He began acting in 1981 with a role on the TV show Magnum, PI, followed by other roles in CHiPs, Cagney and Lacey (episode with Georg Stanford Brown), Twin Peaks (with Joan Chen), The Stand (with Laura San Giacomo and Matt Frewer), Crossing Jordan (six seasons 2001-07), Bionic Woman, Lie to Me, Psych, The Protector, five episodes of Desperate Housewives, Young Justice, and his final role in the series NCIS: Los Angeles.
His film career began with the 1983 film Heartbreaker (with Fernando Allende and Pepe Serna), later roles included Star Trek III: The Search For Spock (with George Takei), Flashpoint (with Kevin Conway) and Guy Boyd), The Guardian (with Xander Berkeley), Another Stakeout (with Dennis Farina), Death in Grenada (with Edward James Olmos, Esai Morales, and Tony Plana), Mr. Magoo (with Kelly Lynch), Mulan (with Harvey Fierstein), Traffic (with Benicio del Toro and Tomas Milian), Sunshine State (with Perry Lang), Iron Man 3 and his final movie appearance, a voice role in Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.
Personal life/Death[]
Ferrer has a brother, Rafael Ferrer (who married singer Debby Boone in 1979), who appeared in the same Vice episode, "To Have and to Hold", and he is a cousin of actor George Clooney. Ferrer married actress Leilani Sarelle in 1991 until their divorce in 2003, they have two sons; Lucas (born 1993) and Rafael (born 1996). Ferrer has a son, Jose Robert from a relationship with Kate Dornan, then later married Lori Weintraub in 2005.
Ferrer died after a battle with throat cancer on January 19, 2017, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 61.
