Michael Benjamin Bay (born February 17, 1965, Los Angeles, California) is an American producer, director, and actor who made his acting debut as an unnamed goon in the episode "Free Verse" of the series Miami Vice.

CareerEdit

Bay began his career as a production assistant on the series Night Court, then after briefly trying acting went behind the camera, directing music videos for artists such as Donny Osmond, Richard Marx, Meat Loaf, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, and others. He also created the Got Milk? advertisement campaign in 1993, then got into movies. His music video experience brought him to the attention of filmmakers Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson, who tapped Bay to direct Bad Boys, then The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys II, and the Transformers Trilogy (Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Transformers 3). He produced the movies Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, The Hitcher, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the 2014 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He later directed the fourth "Transformers" movie, Transformers: Age of Extinction, in 2014. He returned to television with four cable series: Black Sails, The Last Ship, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, and The Purge. Bey produced the movies 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016) and Bumble Bee (2018).

Personal LifeEdit

Bay's cousin, Susan Bay, was married to Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy until his 2015 death. He lives with his two dogs in both Los Angeles and Miami.
