Maxwell Dierks is an administrator with Metro-Dade Central Accounting, with a Marketing degree from The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Dierks was looking for items (mainly confiscated/outdated/etc.) to auction off to raise money for the police department. Business was slow so Dierks found James "Sonny" Crockett's Daytona Spyder and was prepared to impound it for sale, saying it would generate "bargain fever" to raise enough money to hire a full-time marriage counselor for the Miami PD (a subtle reference to Sonny's marital difficulties in Season 1). Crockett, understandably, was reluctant to part with his cover car, even after threatened with Elvis, Dierks managed to tow Crockett's Ferrari to the city garage. Later Izzy Moreno tried to get Crockett's car back, but the Vice cop stopped him before Crockett got into trouble, later when he found his car it was littered with bird droppings, dampness from rain (because Dierks didn't know how to work the top) and a litter of kittens. Finally Martin "Marty" Castillo sent the proper paperwork to get Crockett's car back, but Dierks was not going to give it up, trying to get away for the weekend when Crockett showed up and reclaimed his Ferrari, using false paperwork. The hapless Dierks was left to discover on his own the legitimate papers Castillo mailed to the accounting office.
