Louis Martinez is a teenager from New York who, along with Eddie Rivers, dreamed of opening up a club in New York City with money earned from a "one-time score"--selling drugs one time and getting out with $25,000. Eddie & Louis traveled to Miami (but Louis went ahead and "got lucky at the track" to get he money), Eddie paid for a ticket to Bogota with cash, catching the attention of Vice cops James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, who tried to spook them from going through with their plan by giving them false information about what the policia in Colombia do to drug smugglers, then dumps a table on Tubbs and runs off after he asks for ID. Louis convinced the "green kid" Eddie to go through with the plan and fly to Bogota to get his drugs from dealer Diego Moya's cousin, who puts the drugs in a Santeria statue to get through Customs. After Eddie returned to Miami, he (and later Louis) are arrested by Crockett who threatens 15 years in jail (mandatory in Florida) for both if they don't cooperate with the police, promising a free walk for both if they help bring down Moya. The friends arrange for the deal, it turns out to be a rip-off, and just as Moya is prepared to kill Eddie the SRT team kills Moya, then Castillo tries to get the kids to the airport before Moya's brother Pepe finds out (which he already knew because he was at the scene), Crockett & Tubbs get Eddie & Louis to the airport, but before they can get on the plane Pepe Moya shows up and shoots Eddie down in front of Crockett, who begs Louis to get on the plane and go back to New York after what happened to his friend.
