"Long, Long Way to Go" is a song by Phil Collins, featured on the album No Jacket Required in 1985. It appeared in the Miami Vice episode "Sons and Lovers".
Notes[]
- "Long, Long Way to Go" is the final song of Miami Vice's second season.
- The song is also the last Phil Collins song to appear in Miami Vice (except in flashbacks in the episode "A Bullet for Crockett"), although "Land of Confusion" by his band Genesis was featured in "Freefall".
- The lyrics reference the violence present in this era, possibly referring to the ongoing IRA conflict in Northern Ireland.
- In this song and "Take Me Home", Sting from The Police provides background vocals.
- The song gained later fame after being used on the Philadelphia-set police drama Cold Case starring John Finn, in the Season 2 episode "Mind Hunters".
- The song is one of several featured in Miami Vice that was performed at the iconic Live Aid event in 1985 -- Collins played it as part of a set with Sting at Wembley Stadium in London, along with "In the Air Tonight". Collins famously performed at both the London and Philadelphia concerts, travelling between the two on Concorde.
