Julia Fiona Roberts (born October 28, 1967, Smyrna, Georgia) is an American Academy Award winning actress who appeared as Polly Wheeler, assistant to drug lord Miguel Manolo in the episode "Mirror Image" of the series Miami Vice.
Career[]
Roberts began her acting career in television, debuting in the series Crime Story (with Dennis Farina, Bill Smitrovich, and John Santucci), followed by the TV movie Baja Oklahoma (with Willie Nelson), Friends, Law and Order (received Emmy nomination), Freedom: A History of Us (with Stanley Tucci), The Normal Heart, for which she received her second Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries/Movie), Homecoming (Golden Globe nominee for Best Actress), and Gaslit (Golden Globe nominee for Best Actress in a Miniseries/Movie).
Her movie career began in 1987 in the film Firehouse, her other early roles include Satisfaction (with Liam Neeson and Michael DeLorenzo), Mystic Pizza (with Vincent D'Onofrio), and Blood Red (with Burt Young and Michael Madsen) before her breakthrough in 1989's Steel Magnolias (received an Oscar nomination), then her role in 1990's Pretty Woman (with Laura San Giacomo, received second Oscar nomination) made her an international superstar. Other roles include Flatliners (with Oliver Platt), Hook (with Phil Collins), The Pelican Brief (with John Heard, Stanley Tucci, Anthony Heald, and Nicholas Woodeson), Something to Talk About (with Kyra Sedgwick), Stepmom (with Lynn Whitfield), Erin Brockovich (won Best Actress Oscar), Ocean's Eleven and its' sequel Ocean's Twelve, Charlotte's Web (with Steve Buscemi and Kevin Anderson), Valentine's Day, Eat Pray Love, Love, Wedding, Marriage, Mirror, Mirror (with Nathan Lane), August: Osage County (with Chris Cooper, for which she received her fourth Oscar nomination), Secret in Their Eyes (with Alfred Molina), Money Monster (with Giancarlo Esposito), Ticket to Paradise, and Leave the World Behind.
Roberts has won the most popular actress award in the People's Choice Awards eleven times.
Personal Life[]
Roberts has a sister, Lisa Roberts Gillen, brother, Eric Roberts, and a niece, Emma Roberts (Eric's daughter), that are into acting. Roberts was engaged to actors Dylan McDermott (met on the set of Steel Magnolias) and Kiefer Sutherland in the early 1990s (after meeting on the set of Flatliners), but abruptly married country singer Lyle Lovett after a three-week romance in 1993 until their 1995 divorce. Roberts later married cameraman Daniel Moder in 2002, they have three children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus (born 2004) and son Henry (born 2007).
