Johnny (a.k.a. "Dr. Dinky") was a Metro-Dade policeman who joined a vigilante gang led by Walter Stevens after his police partner was killed by a PCP dealer in a booby-trapped room, later planting heroin on the dealer and got him sent to prison for 15 years, then killed in jail in March, 1989. Johnny (as his ice-cream driver alter ego "Dr. Dinky") blew the cover of Vice detectives James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs by driving by and reciting a poem that the cops were outside. Johnny later showed up at a meet with Crockett, Tubbs, and Reginald Hawkins, a drug and arms dealer, but did not blow their cover, later becoming partners with the Vice duo inside Stevens' gang. Later Johnny began to question his gang's purpose when two Metro-Dade police were shot dead by Hawkins and his men just for politicking (and being in the wrong place at the wrong time), so Stevens allows him to leave, with a promise of silence--but to ensure Johnny remained silent, after he leaves, another car pulls up and kills Johnny in a drive-by-style shooting, with Crockett hearing the shots and screeching tires from Stevens' place.
