John Pankow (born April 28, 1954) is an American actor. He appeared in the show Miami Vice as Floyd Higgins, brother of Billy Joe Higgins (both working for the drug lord Enrique Luiz) in the episode "Glades".
Early Life/Career[]
Pankow was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of an advertising salesman and a homemaker. He grew up outside of Chicago and attended Northeastern University, where he was a theater arts major. He left school to attend Chicago's St. Nicholas Theater to learn his acting skills. He made his first film appearance in 1980's Life on the Mississippi, followed by The Chosen (with Evan Handler), and The Hunger (with Dan Hedaya) before taking his first TV role in the soap opera The Doctors as Danny Martin, a role he had for nearly one year.
After his Vice appearance, Pankow returned to movies in To Live and Die In L.A. (with Debra Feuer & John Turturro) and The Secret of My Success (with Margaret Whitton), *batteries not included, Monkey Shines (with Stanley Tucci), Talk Radio (with Zach Grenier), and his most recent movie, Putzel, while returning to the soap genre in Search For Tomorrow, appearing in that soap's final episode in 1986, then moving on to a regular role as Ira Buchman, cousin to Paul Buchman on the series Mad About You. Pankow has also appeared in four (Original, Criminal Intent (with Vincent D'Onofrio, SVU, and LA) of the Law & Order series', The Good Wife (with Zach Grenier), Elementary, the cable series Episodes, Madam Secretary (with Tony Plana), and his most recent TV appearance, in a 2018 episode of Blue Bloods. He also returned to the theater, starring in the Broadway play 12 Angry Men.
Personal Life[]
Pankow has a brother, James Pankow, who is a founding member of the band Chicago (featuring Terry Kath & Peter Cetera). Pankow is married to Kristine Sutherland ("Joyce Summers" of the show Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and has one daughter, Elenore.
