John Mankiewicz (born February 18, 1954) is an American TV writer and producer, who provided the teleplay for the Miami Vice episode "Out Where the Buses Don't Run" and wrote the episode "Yankee Dollar", as well as serving as story editor for the second season.

Mankiewicz was born in New York City, New York. His father was Don Mankiewicz, who also was a TV writer and producer for such classic shows as Star Trek: The Original Series, Ironside, One Step Beyond, and Mannix. The younger Mankiewicz wrote for and produced the following shows:
