Johnathan Alberto Leguizamo (born July 22, 1960) is a Colombian comedian, actor, producer, and director, who made his TV debut in the show Miami Vice as Orlando Calderone, son of Esteban Calderone (played by Miguel Piñero) and half-brother of Angelina Madeira (played by Phanie Napoli) in the episodes "Sons and Lovers" and "The Afternoon Plane", and Angelo Alvarez, a crack dealer whose brothers were killed by Helen Jackson (played by Karen Black) and in turn is killed by Angelo in the episode "Victims of Circumstance".
Career[]
Leguizamo was born in Bogota, Colombia. His family emigrated to New York in the late 1960s, after attending Long Island University studying theater, Leguizamo began a career in stand-up comedy before appearing in the video for Madonna's first Top 10 single, Borderline, he made his movie debut in 1984's Mixed Blood, then appeared in the movies Casualties of War (with Al Shannon, Ving Rhames, and Vyto Ruginis), Die Hard 2 (with Bruce Willis & Tom Bower), Whispers In The Dark (with Anthony Heald & Jacqueline Brookes), Carlito's Way (with Penelope Ann Miller, Saundra Santiago and John Ortiz), To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (with Wesley Snipes), Executive Decision (with Oliver Platt & Joe Morton), The Fan (with Wesley Snipes & Patti D'Arbanville), Titan, A.E. His limited TV appearances include his series House of Buggin (produced and wrote, with Luis Guzman), four seasons on The Brothers Garcia, 12 episodes of E.R., The Kill Point. and as a voice actor, the voice of "Sid" (reprising his role in three Ice Age movies) in the 2011 special Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, BoJack Horseman, The Mandalorian, Santiago of the Seas, Encanto, and his most recent TV appearance, in the 2023 mini-series Waco: The Aftermath (with Gary Coie). Leguizamo also produced the play Piñero, based on the life of Miguel Piñero.
Personal life[]
Leguizamo married fellow actress Yelba Osorio (Carlito's Way) in 1994 until their divorce in 1996, he then married Justine Maurer in 2003, they have two children: daughter Allegra Sky (born 1999) and son Ryder Lee "Lucas" (born 2000).
