Joel Goodman made his Miami Vice debut as former CIA Agent Felix Lawson, who gave Martin "Marty" Castillo and Nguyen Van Trahn information about The Savage in the episode "Duty and Honor", as Carl Becker, engineer for both Bill Bob Proverb and Mason Mather who sabotaged Proverb's satellite transmissions in the episode "Amen... Send Money", and as Sigmar Motherlant, who ran an art auction in the episode "The Lost Madonna" of the series Miami Vice. Other credited roles was in an episode of the 1993 series South Beach, My Father the Hero - David (As Dorian Jones), Blue Skies Again - Kirschbaum. He also appeared in the Mae West film, Sextette as the Athlete, and in the original unreleased version of Ralph Bakshi's - Hey Good Lookin'. He has appeared in many National Television commercials. He was known as a fine actor in New York's Off Off Broadway doing roles at La Mama and The Old Reliable Theater Tavern and Minor Latham Theater at Barnard and, the Theater at the "Rockefeller Church." He appeared as the lead in two productions at the Erie Playhouse, Erie Pennsylvania - The Subject was Roses, and Hatful of Rain. He worked with Pulitzer prize winning playwright, Charles Gordone in the original Los Angeles production of Babachops, and with American Playwright Robert Patrick at La Mamma West. He was a director at The Actors Studio West Playwright Unit.
