Joaquim António Portugal Baptista de Almeida (born March 15, 1957) is a Portuguese actor, who made his TV debut in the show Miami Vice as Nico Arroyo, son of General Octavio Arroyo (played by Tomas Milian), who rapes Odette Ribaud (played by Lynn Whitfield), then is killed by Gina Calabrese after breaking into her home intending to rape her in the episode "Bought and Paid For".

Career[]

de Almeida was born in Lisbon, Portugal. He moved to New York City in 1975 to attend the Actors Studio. He has appeared in many foreign films, but he made his American film debut in 1982's The Soldier. His other film appearances include The Honorary Counsul (with Elpidia Carrillo), The Sun and the Moon (with Kevin Conway), Love Dream (with J.C. Quinn), Sandino (with Dean Stockwell), Clear and Present Danger (with Kamala Lopez), and Desperado (with Steve Buscemi). He was also to appear in The Mask of Zorro (with Jose Perez), although his scenes were subsequently deleted from the theatrical cut. His television work includes the TV movie Dollar for the Dead (with Ed Lauter), Kingpin (mini-series with Elpidia Carrillo, Pepe Serna, Julio Oscar Mechoso, and Angela Alvarado), 24 (12 episodes in 2003), Wanted (7 episodes in 2005, with Gary Cole), CSI: Miami, Three Rivers, Missing, Bones (with Angela Alvarado), Revolution (with Giancarlo Esposito), and his most recent American TV appearance, a 2018 episode of Elementary.

His most recent American film roles include the fifth film in the successful The Fast and the Furious franchise, Fast Five, and the tenth installment, Fast X, and appearances in Three Holes, Two Brads, and a Smoking Gun (with Richard Edson), and The Palace.
