Chong Chen (born April 26, 1961) is a Chinese actress better known as Joan Chen. She appeared in the show Miami Vice as May Ying, former wife of Martin "Marty" Castillo and husband to Ma Sek in the episode "Golden Triangle (Part II)".
Early Life/Career[]
Chen was born in Shanghai, China. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1981, and she became a naturalized citizen in 1989. Before arriving in the US, she began her acting career in a number of Chinese movies from 1977-1981. After attending college in New York and California, she began acting again and made her American TV debut in Peking Encounter, then appeared in the series' Matt Houston, Knight Rider, MacGyver (in an episode called "The Golden Triangle" with Keye Luke & James Saito), Twin Peaks, the TV movie Hemingway & Gellhorn (with David Strathairn), and her most recent TV role, in the 2014 Netflix series Marco Polo. Chen played her first major movie role in The Last Emperor (with Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), and her most recent movie role is in the 2015 movie Cairo Declaration.

Chen married actor Jim Lau in 1985 and divorced in 1990, then married cardiologist Peter Hui in 1992, and they have two children.
