Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid (born July 25, 1955) is an Somali supermodel and actress, known by Iman, who appeared in the show Miami Vice as Dakotah, connection between Ira Stone (played by Bob Balaban) and Capt. Real Estate aka. Maynard (played by G. Gordon Liddy) in the episode "Back in the World" and Lois Blyth, a serial killer murdering men she meets in a video dating service in particularly vicious ways and nearly kills Crockett in the episode "Love at First Sight".

Career[]

Iman was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. She began her modeling career in 1976 with an appearance in Vogue magazine, with her subsequent appearances on major magazine covers making her a supermodel, and became a muse for designers Gianni Versace, Donna Karan, Yves Saint-Laurent, and Calvin Klein. She remained a high-profile model for 14 years, taking time to make acting appearances, making her movie debut in 1979s The Human Factor, followed by Exposed (with Ian McShane & James Russo), Out of Africa, No Way Out, House Party 2, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (with George Takei & Rosana DeSoto), and her most recent movie role, The Deli (with Judith Malina).

In television, Iman has appeared in The Cosby Show, In The Heat of the Night, 227, and Heart of Darkness. She was hostess of Project Runway Canada from 2007-09, then became host of the cable reality series The Fashion Show starting in 2010.

In 2007 the CEO of the Home Shopping Network (HSN) approached her to create a clothing line, which is called "Global Chic". Her clothing style (which drew from her childhood in Egypt and her modeling career) is one of HSN's best sellers and she frequently appears on the network to personally promote her clothing line.

Personal Life[]

Iman was married to basketball star Spencer Haywood from 1977 to 1987, they had a daughter Zulekha (born 1978), they divorced in 1987. She then married rock star David Bowie in 1992 until his death in 2016, and they have a daughter, Alexandria Zahra "Alex" Jones (born 2000).
