"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is a song by Cyndi Lauper, featured on the album She's So Unusual in 1983 and released as a single in September of that year. A cover version of the song performed by an unidentified artist appeared in the Miami Vice episode "Brother's Keeper".
Notes[]
- The track is unique in that the version heard as part of the show's soundtrack is performed by an unidentified cover artist. While several other songs during the first season were likewise performed by house musicians, these tracks appeared in a live setting, with the band actually playing the songs during the episode. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is not performed live, but is still covered by in-house musicians specifically for the show.
- This was the first of four Billboard Top 10 singles from Lauper's debut album She's So Unusual (Time After Time, All Through The Night, and She Bop are the others).
- Playing Lauper's "father" in the video is Capt. Lou Albano, who was featured in the WWE/MTV wrestling angle in 1985, as well as season 3's "By Hooker by Crook".
