"Gambler" is a song by Madonna, recorded for the film Vision Quest in 1985 and featured on the film's soundtrack album. It was also released as a single in September of that year. An instrumental remix of the song, known as the "Instrumental Remix", appeared in the Miami Vice episode "The Fix".

Notes

  • The use of a remix of "Gambler" makes it one of only four songs to appear in Miami Vice in something other than its standard album form -- the others being "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, "Baba O'Riley" by The Who and "Never Let Me Down Again" by Depeche Mode. While the use of alternate versions/mixes was decidedly rare in the series, the Miami Vice film features numerous songs that appear in alternate remixed form.
  • The "Instrumental Remix" used in the show was originally released as a B-side on the "Gambler" 12" vinyl single.
  • "Gambler" was included on the Vision Quest movie soundtrack but not released in the United States as a single, due to Madonna having multiple songs from her Like A Virgin album as well as her other song from the movie, "Crazy For You" out at the same time. It reached the Top 5 in the United Kingdom.
  • The song was released later as the B-side to "Crazy For You" as a re-release 45 and cassette single.
  • Another song that appears both in Miami Vice and Vision Quest is "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Rider.
  • Despite Madonna's huge success in music then (and now), this was her only song to appear on Miami Vice.
