"Livin' the Book of My Life" is a song by Philip Michael Thomas, featured on the album Living the Book of My Life in 1985 and released as a single that year. It appeared in the Miami Vice episode "The Maze".

Notes[]

  • This was Philip Michael Thomas' musical debut, however his album (and single) did not chart on either the Billboard Hot 100 Singles or the Hot 200 Albums charts. His co-star, Don Johnson, would have more musical success in 1986 with "Heartbeat", and in 1988 with his duet with then-girlfriend Barbra Streisand, "Till I Loved You".
  • This marks the only time a member of the main cast sings one of their own songs in Miami Vice. Don Johnson had two songs used on the show, but both appeared in the background (although Olivia Brown did perform her spoken lines from Johnson's "Streetwise" in the episode of the same name), while Saundra Santiago sang two jazz standards in the episode "Heroes of the Revolution".
