Elizabeth Ann Cole (born August 30, 1939, Ocala, Florida) is an American actress known as Elizabeth Ashley, who appeared as DEA Agent Linda Colby in the episode "Knock, Knock... Who's There?" of the series Miami Vice.

Career[]

Ashley began her career on the stage, appearing in the plays Barefoot in the Park and Take Her, She's Mine, for which she won a Tony Award. Her screen debut came in the TV series DuPont Show of the Month, followed by TV appearances in The Defenders, Ben Casey, Route 66, Hawk (episode with Val Bisoglio), Medical Center, The Men From Shiloh, Mission: Impossible, The Love Boat, and B.L. Stryker (with Michael Chiklis") before reuniting with Burt Reynolds (who she worked with in Hawk, B.L. Stryker, and the movie Paternity (with Jacqueline Brookes) in a four-season run in his series Evening Shade, then appeared in several other TV shows including Homicide: Life on the Street and Law and Order: SVU (both with Richard Belzer), Treme (with Melissa Leo), and Russian Doll.

Her movie debut came in 1964 in the movie The Carpetbaggers, followed by roles in Ship of Fools, Coma, Windows (with Russell Horton), Split Image (with Brian Dennehy), Dragnet, Labor Pains (with Kyra Sedgwick), The Cake Eaters (with Melissa Leo), and Ocean's Eight.

Personal Life[]

Ashley married actor James Farentino in 1962, but during the filming of The Carpetbaggers, she fell for actor George Peppard (Banacek, The A-Team), divorced Farentino, and married Peppard in 1966 until their 1972 divorce, they had one son, Christian (born 1968, Ashley's only child), she then married James McCarthy in 1975 until their 1981 divorce.
