Robert Dean Stockwell (born March 5, 1936) is an American actor, who appeared in the show Miami Vice as Jack Gretsky, CIA agent, friend of Martin "Marty" Castillo, husband of Laura (played by Natasha Detante), father of Marty, killed by Castillo in self-defense in the episode "Bushido".

Career/Selected Filmography

Stockwell was born in Hollywood, California. He has been acting for over 65 years, first as a child actor in 1945's The Valley of Decision, followed by Anchors Aweigh, and The Green Years. His first TV appearance came in 1956's Front Row Center. His most known roles were in the sci-fi genre: As Al Calvicci in Quantum Leap (from 1989-93, for which he was nominated for four Emmys in the Best Supporting Actor role), and as John Cavil in Battlestar Galactica (2006-09, with Edward James Olmos).

Personal Life

Stockwell married Millie Perkins from 1960-62, when it ended in divorce, he later married Joy Marchenko from 1981 until their divorce in 2004, they had two children, Austin (born 1983) and Sophia and (born 1985). Stockwell is the godfather of actress Amber Tamblyn.
