Ciarán Hinds

Ciarán Hinds (born February 9, 1953) is an Irish actor, who appeared in the Miami Vice film as FBI Agent John Fujima.


Hinds was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and raised as a Roman Catholic. His acting career began on stage in 1976 with the Glasgow Citizen's Theatre, and throughout the late 70s and 80s he worked with numerous British theatre companies, culminating with his employment with the coveted Royal Shakespeare Company in the early 1990s.

Hinds' first film was in Excalibur in 1981, but his first major role was not until Jane Austen's Persuasion in 1995. Following this, he appeared in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life, Veronica Guerin, The Phantom of the Opera, Munich, Miami Vice, The Nativity Story, Amazing Grace, Margot at the Wedding and There Will Be Blood. He has also played the part of Aberforth Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows - Part 2 and appeared in the critically acclaimed Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy.

Hinds is also well known for his work as Gaius Julius Caesar in the first season of Rome, and is recognisable in the UK for his extensive work in domestic television dramas there. He also enjoys an extensive career in narrating audiobooks.

Personal LifeEdit

Hinds has lived with his long-time partner Hélène Patarot in Paris since 1987, and they have a daughter. Hinds is close friends with fellow Irish actor (and Miami Vice series guest star) Liam Neeson; Hinds served as pallbearer at Neeson's wife's funeral in 2009.
