Christopher Anton Rea (born March 4, 1951, Middlesborough, England) is an English singer-songwriter whose song "Working on It" appeared in the episode "Miami Squeeze" of the series Miami Vice.

Career

Rea began his career in Middlesborough-based bands in the 1970s before releasing his first solo album, Whatever Happened to Benny Santini, in 1978, which featured his highest-charting single in the United States, the #12 "Fool (If You Think It's Over)", and was nominated for a Grammy for "Song of the Year". But that was the peak of Rea's success in the US, as his next single to chart in the Hot 100 was 1989's "Working on It" from his compilation album New Light through Old Windows. His other albums failed to make a dent in the US, and had some success in the UK. In 2001, Rea suffered from pancreatitis, and vowed to go to his blues roots (from which he deviated in the 1980s) if he recovered, and when he did, he resumed recording, though his sound returned to blues, and released nine albums in the 2000s. In 2016 Rea had another health issue when he suffered a stroke which resulted in slurred speech and limited movement in his hands and fingers. He recovered from that and resumed touring in 2017, then collapsed on stage in December which ended his 2017 tour.
