Christopher Nash Elliott (born May 31, 1960, New York City, New York) is an American actor and comedic writer who appeared as Danny Allred, expert cryptographer and war buddy of James "Sonny" Crockett in the episode "Down for the Count (Part II)" of the series Miami Vice.

Career[]

Elliott began his career as a comedy writer and performer on Late Night with David Letterman from 1982-88 (returning in 2007), winning four Emmys for comedy writing. Elliott made his movie debut in Lianna (with Jon DeVries), followed by My Man Adam (with Veronica Cartwright, Charlie Barnett and Austin Pendleton), Manhunter (with Garcelle Beauvais, Bill Cwikowski, Dennis Farina, Kim Griest, Michele Shay, Bill Smitrovich, Jim Zubiena and Michael Talbott), The Abyss (with Jimmie Ray Weeks and J.C. Quinn), Kingpin, Sandy Wexler (with Luis Guzman), and his most recent film, Clara's Ghost (written and directed by Chris' daughter Bidey).

Elliott's TV appearances include his own series, Get a Life, that ran from 1990-92, a member of the Saturday Night Live cast from 1994-95, Murphy Brown, the animated Dilbert, According to Jim, King of the Hill, How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order: SVU (with Richard Belzer), and his most recent TV appearance, Schitt's Creek

Personal Life[]

Elliott married Paula Niedert in 1986, they have two children; Abby (born 1987, first second-generation Saturday Night Live cast member, departed SNL in 2012) and Bridey (born 1990, herself a writer and director).
