Brian Ray (born January 4, 1955) is an American rock guitarist whose song "Today's a Beginning" appeared in the episode "Give a Little, Take a Little" of the show Miami Vice.

Career[]

Ray was born in southern California. In 1973 he began his rock career performing with Bobby "Boris" Pickett, during these performances Ray was introduced to singer Etta James, and they performed together (Ray providing guitar) for 14 years. He also began songwriting and producing albums for Smokey Robinson, Rita Coolidge, and Paul McCartney, who brought Ray into his backing band in 2002 and performed in Super Bowl XXXVI. Ray also performed session music for others, the song "Today's a Beginning" was recorded specifically for Vice, the vocal is reputed to be performed by Jill Colucci, who sang the theme to America's Funniest Home Videos during the Bob Saget era, but has not been confirmed. Ray released two solo albums since 2006, his first in his career.
