Bailey is a detective in the Metro-Dade Homicide Division, who was assigned the case of a group of killings, at first thought to be random hit jobs when the diner owner Sy Rosenthal and the Alvarez brothers (known to be involved in drugs) were killed, later Bailey and Vice Division detectives James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs determined the killings were linked to the victims' Nazi Death Camp numbers on their wrists.
