August R. Brown (November 12, 1929 - April 6, 2018) made his final acting appearance as the coach of Kevin Mulhern's college football team in the episode "Hard Knocks" of the series Miami Vice.

Brown's career started in advertisements and commercials; appearing in numerous catalogs, TV and magazine advertisements and commercials, and was one of the first 10 male models to work for the Ford Modeling Agency. His only other acting experience was in two episodes of Simon and Simon.

He was also a free-diver, and after his Vice appearance, he became the first free diver admitted to the Explorers Club in 1997 in both the New York and South Florida chapters.

Brown passed away from heart failure in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 6, 2018 at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Grace Gonzales, a daughter, Robin, and two grandchildren.
