Annette Francine Bening (born May 29, 1958, Topeka, Kansas) is an American actress who appeared as Vicky, Justice Department clerk and girlfriend of Glenn McIntyre in the episode "Red Tape" of the series Miami Vice.

Career[]

Bening began acting in junior high school, appearing in a version of The Sound of Music, studied drama at her high school, then getting a degree in theatre arts at San Francisco State. She made her acting debut in the 1986 TV movie Manhunt for Claude Dallas, followed by roles in the series Wiseguy (with Ray Sharkey and Joe Dallesandro), the TV movie Hostage, and her most recent TV appearance, the 2005 TV movie Mrs. Harris (with Bill Smitrovich).

Her movie career began in the 1988 comedy The Great Outdoors, followed by Postcards From The Edge (with C.C.H. Pounder), The Grifters (where she received her first Oscar nomination, for Best Supporting Actress, losing to Whoopi Goldberg), Guilty by Suspicion (with Brad Sullivan and Barry Primus), Bugsy (where she met her husband Warren Beatty), The American President, Mars Attacks (with Lisa Marie and Pam Grier), The Siege (with Bruce Willis and David Proval), American Beauty (her second Oscar nomination, for Best Actress, losing to Hilary Swank), in that film Bening worked opposite Chris Cooper. Open Range (with James Russo and Kim Coates), Being Julia (her third Oscar nomination, again for Best Actress, losing again to Hilary Swank), Running with Scissors, The Kids Are All Right, (her fourth Oscar nomination, third for Best Actress, this time losing to Natalie Portman), Girl Most Likely (with Bob Balaban), The Seagull (with Brian Dennehy), Nyad (her fifth Oscar nomination, fourth for Best Actress, this time losing to Emma Stone), and her most recent movie appearance, Poolman.

Personal Life[]

Bening married choreographer J. Steven White in 1985, but separated in 1986, divorcing in 1991. In 1991 she met actor Warren Beatty on the set of Bugsy and began a relationship, they married in 1992 and have four children; Kathlyn (born 1992), Benjamin (born 1994), Isabel (born 1997) and Ella (born 2000).
