Annabelle Gurwitch (born November 4, 1961, Mobile, Alabama) is an American actress and hostess who appeared as Teri, a prostitute previously working with the pimp Choo-Choo in the episode "Love at First Sight" of the series Miami Vice.

Career[]

Gurwitch is best known as the original hostess of the TBS cult classic Dinner and a Movie, where a movie was aired and a recipe for a dish with a name relating to the movie was prepared live. Gurwitch served as hostess from 1996 until 2002. She hosted the program Wa$ted! on the Planet Green (now Destination America) channel from 2008-2011. She has also wrote and directed the documentary Fired!: Tales of the Canned, Canceled, Downsized, and Dismissed based on essays she wrote after she was fired by Woody Allen because she allegedly "looked retarded" among other insults.

Her acting career began on the soap opera Guiding Light, some of her other TV/movie appearances include Delivery Boys (first acting appearance), Not Necessarily The News, Kiss Daddy Goodnight (with Steve Buscemi), Where the Hell's That Gold?!!? (with Willie Nelson, Alfonso Arau, and Gregory Sierra), China Beach, Life with Mikey (with Cyndi Lauper and Nathan Lane), Dream On (with Denny Dillon), Automatic (with John Glover), Seinfeld (with Michael Richards), The Cable Guy (with Ben Stiller), Daddy Day Care, The Shaggy Dog (with Philip Baker Hall), Dexter, Atlas Shrugged: Part I (with Jon Polito, Jsu Garcia, and Graham Beckel), and Better Things.

Gurwitch has written several books, including I See You Made an Effort: Compliments, Indignities, and Survival Stories from the Edge of 50 (2014), Wherever You Go, There They Are: Stories About My Family You Might Relate To (2017), and You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up (2010); the latter was co-written with her then-husband Jeff Kahn.

Personal Life[]

Gurwitch married writer Jeff Kahn in 1996 until their 2019 divorce, they have one son, Ezra.
