Abel Ferrara

Abel Ferrara (born July 19, 1951) is an American screenwriter, producer and director, who directed the Miami Vice episodes "The Home Invaders" and "The Dutch Oven".


Ferrara was born in the Bronx, New York. He began directing films at the SUNY purchase in 1971, then after he left and out of work, he directed a pornographic film, 9 Lives of a Wet Pussy in 1976, then made a slasher film, The Driller Killer, followed by a rape-revenge film, Ms. 45 (with Zoe Tamerlis and Jack Thibeau). Ferrera also directed the pilot of Michael Mann's TV series Crime Story, and the films China Girl (with Judith Malina and James Russo), King of New York (with Laurence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, Giancarlo Esposito, Paul Calderon, and Steve Buscemi), Body Snatchers (with R. Lee Ermey), and his most recent film, Napoli, Napoli, Napoli in 2009.
